Sustainability and specifications
The demand for energy-efficient glazing has been steadily growing, partly driven by legislation and the need to improve sustainability.
At the same time, glass manufacturers have constantly sought to improve glass production technology to reduce energy and water consumption and increase the use of recycled materials.
Most AGC products are currently assessed by the independent Cradle to Cradle initiative, which assesses sustainability and determines performance based on that.
As glass products become increasingly sophisticated in response to energy, acoustic, safety and fire requirements, manufacturers have trained glass experts and developed software tools to help professionals process specifications and select the optimal glazing for their projects.
An international team of construction project experts from AGC works with project teams to determine the correct glazing specifications. This applies not only to data on the characteristics of glass, but also to photorealistic imaging of glazing, while the aim is to ensure that all technical and aesthetic requirements are met.
